For Lebanon Special School District Board of Education
Preserving Our WilCo Values
Israel Woodson is a tenured law enforcement officer, 15-year local business owner, and product of LSSD schools. He's been a Lebanon resident for over 25 years, raised three daughters here, and has been married to his wife for 31 years. He's running because the children of Lebanon deserve a school board member who puts students first, supports parents, and guards the values that make Wilson County special.
As a department training instructor in law enforcement, Israel knows what it takes to build programs, maintain standards, and hold people accountable. As a business owner, he understands balanced budgets and making every dollar count. As a father and LSSD graduate, he knows this district personally — from the inside.
Tenured public servant with years of experience protecting the community. Department training instructor who builds programs and develops people.
15 years running a local business in Lebanon. Understands budgets, accountability, and delivering results — skills that translate directly to school board governance.
Attended LSSD schools as a child. This isn't an outsider looking in — Israel knows this district because he grew up in it.
God first and foremost. Father of three girls. Husband of 31 years. His family's roots run deep in this community.
Every decision the school board makes should start and end with one question: is this best for the students? Academic excellence, safe schools, and an environment where children thrive.
Parents are the primary educators of their children. The school board should empower families, not replace them. Transparency in curriculum, open communication, and real accountability to parents.
Taxpayer dollars should be spent wisely and accounted for completely. A business owner's eye on every line item — because every dollar that doesn't reach a classroom is a dollar wasted.
Reading, writing (including cursive), and arithmetic. Effective, proven methods over experimental trends. Give teachers the support and freedom to teach what works.
Schools should teach children how to think, not what to think. A conservative approach to education that respects families' values and keeps political agendas out of classrooms.
Patriotism, faith, hard work, and community. These are the values that built Wilson County, and they should be reflected in our schools. No apologies.
In 2024, the last LSSD board race was decided by just 4 votes. This is a new zone-based election — the first time LSSD voters will elect board members by zone instead of at-large. If you live in Zone 3, your vote carries enormous weight.
